crack the shutters

I may or not have a hamster/mouse/fish sometime soon. Without my parents knowing. WHATEVER. I'm lonely at home, and I need something to talk to about my problems. The only problem I have is with it fucking dying. I know things die, I just don't wanna deal with it. Hi, I'm 20.

The verdict is dropping the music tech class so I can work on the two nights I have requested off to make up for hours. I CANNOT work in the middle of the day anymore because of soccer practice, and unfortunately, my want and need to get back into this sport is just too strong; sacrifices have to be made.

Besides, the only people I care about staying in touch with via my Music Tech class are in a band that I've already friended on Myspace.

Indie fucks, but they are cuuuuuute, and one of them has an adorable lisp, and didn't take me too seriously when i made fun of indie-kids/hipsters. ^_^

UNDER PRESSURE. PUSHING DOWN ON ME, PRESSING DOWN ON YOU.

BRB, pulling a Veronica. I might not have time to breathe this semester.

There's a possibility of playing soccer again (officially), and balancing that, school, work AND my intership, this could be the most important semester ever, and my time will be tight. So if you don't see me for 16 weeks, I apologize.

But, not really, because I MIGHT BE PLAYING SOCCER AGAIN. IF YOU KNOW ME, YOU KNOW HOW BIG OF A DEAL THIS IS.

You guys, seriously. I don't even know what to do. I might have to drop my film class, or just be late all the time, I don't know. That's a terrible idea considering my transfer major, BUT, I feel like if I keep the mindset of going to CSUN, I can transfer just fine and still be the Cinema Arts major-Communications minor. If I play soccer, will you guys come watch me play and be interested? *chews nails* This is exciting. I kind of feel like it was a sign? There was a FLIER up on the bulletin boards. And I ended up talking to the DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS. *yikes* It was gnarly. I have yet to call the coach; I'm mainly concerned about work hours, not so much getting units for school.

Fuck.

I have to talk with SO MANY PEOPLE ABOUT SCHEDULING STUFF. OMG. D: I'm so nervous about losing everything that's important to me right now.

hot diggity dog!

Now, I'm really not sure if I should be posting this, but at this point, I don't think it matters.

I am stoked beyond life to be a BuzzMedia(Net) intern.

I think it's a badass opportunity to dip my toes and possibly fully submerge my body into such an awesome, well put together media site. I've been around, lurking (to be honest, it's what I do best), and I kind of really enjoy everything that goes down, so long as it goes down well. Of course, there's always the trolls and wankers to go around just trying to start trouble and internet drama. But. If you ignore them, or rather, believe that you're always better than them, they can't phase you.

The reason why I'm blogging this is because I just started looking through New Album Releases for a new piece Karen's going to put together about new album releases, reviews and artist spotlights. I hope I can make myself be something that Buzznet wants to keep around, and never something they want to get rid of.

I've studied Mass Communications, mainly media, and I feel like Buzznet's a pretty good source to look at for all different types of media and targeting, in a good way. In my media classes, we study how the internet is one main source (if not the biggest) of targeting and communication through media outlets. Ha. I'll explain more later as the classes go on.

Anyways. I hope I can generate more buzz as I go along.

xoxo

Does Your Husband Know?

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, and this is mine. I've been with this band a while, and I don't intend on sounding at all elite or stuck-up in any way. That's not who I am. This is simply an excerpt of what I've been feeling for a while now, lurking message boards and whatnot. This is not directed at any person(s) in particular.

Well does he? The new FOB song that was released on iTunes is certainly a new take on what rock and roll sounds like today. It sounds more of a weird cross between David Bowie and AC/DC, which I'm sure at least two members of FOB would be peeing their pants right now if they read this.

I'm sure a lot of fans are skeptical on the sound of the new album based off of numerous posts I myself have been reading on LiveJournal. I'm indifferent.

I see myself as probably one of the few more open-minded people in this fandom, and I can tell you a few reasons why.

o1] It seems like the majority want Fall Out Boy to be those same 4 guys from Chicago who had broken hearts and bullet wounds and telling their ex-girlfriend to please crash her car because her make up looks so great next to his teeth. Which, on one hand, a very small one, I can agree with. People want what they're familiar [GET FAMILIAR] with. Fans want those same little dudes. But, the thing is..And this goes for fans as well, is that people grow up. People change. Sounds change. I can name a few bands I've stuck by while their sounds has evolved. Evolved is just a better word in my opinion. I don't see Fall Out Boy changing, I see them evolving. They're getting older. Pete isn't the same broken-hearted punk-ass anymore. He's growing into a more sophisticated (not that he wasn't sophisticated before) writer, and instead of drawing every song from a personal experience, he's turned to storytelling. Which is another thing I think fans need to try to realize: Not every song is a personal story. I don't necessarily think that Pete has a mistress out there who also has a husband. If he does, that's his business. If anything, I can probably safely say that he got it from a story, made it up, or saw a movie (Closer, anyone?).

But back to Evolution of Fall Out Boy.

o2] With every album, there was growth, both lyrically and musically. I notice it both ways. Patrick's vocals seem to get more mature (what a shitty word) and moreEven with collaborations and producers. For those that think that a collaboration with Lil Wayne could be "God-awful, piss, shit" and whatever else negative things you can come up with, that's fine. But how open-minded are you? I won't lie; I don't really LOVE Lil Wayne, but I think I'm going to wait to hear what he brings to the table with one of my favorite bands before giving a final verdict. You can't delcare someone guilty without reasonable evidence. You haven't heard it yet. Stop being so fucking close minded and ridiculous and give your 'favorite boys from Chicago' a chance. When I heard that Babyface was going to be producing on 2007's Infinity on High, I was a bit skeptical, sure. Because everyone automatically associates him with R&B. A producer is a producer. You can never stick to just one genre in that area of the business (awesome example: Patrick Stump! He hasn't produced just ONE genre since he's started. He's all over the place, and he's damn good at it. Kudos, Trick. Keep up the good work.). And in my own opinion, that album is one of the best albums, musically and lyrically, I've heard in maybe ever from them. And I listen to A LOT of music. I'm almost positive my iPod can rival yours. And I'm still nowhere near done.. /tangent.

o3] From Under the Cork Tree is an album weighted by the singles. It is. I personally love every single song on that album. It's one of the albums that gave me new outlooks on things. It's their first major label album. Most bands' commercial success is an album like that. I can guarantee that the majority (if not a significant percentage) of their fanbase today heard them on the radio or on MTV, and decided to pick up FUCT when it dropped. There's no problem with that. But, in all honesty, it's the business. "Sugar, We're Going Down" was being played EVERYWHERE. "Dance, Dance" was the summer song of that YEAR. They got huge. And with that came more growth, because no one ever wants to have a kick ass sophomore album, and then absolutely fail on the next one.

Infinity on High is probably best known for the vocals; Patrick's R&B background shined its way through this album, and musically, it's a weird gumbo of R&B/Pop-Punk/Funk/Hardcore (as always ^^) and it's great. Some fans didn't like it because it was too poppy and commercial, which again, is understandable. Continuing on with November's Folie á Deux; I'm sure they are/were at a place musically, I'm sure, to be able to (and want to) collaborate with more people on their album. Jay-Z doing that intro (and producing? I always forget) on Infinity was probably one of the coolest things ever. In November, I'm looking forward to hearing what sound Pharell Williams [of N.E.R.D] will bring, what kinds of things Lil Wayne will be rapping [I'm assuming] about, and what Kanye is doing [Neon glasses! Bring it on. Blue is so your color, Joe.]. And Debbie Harry?? Talk about evolution; not many bands can get Debbie fucking Harry, and pull it off, and I'm eager to hear what they've done on this next album.

The first two [full] songs I've heard are in heavy rotation on my iTunes. "Headfirst..." is this weird cross between David Bowie-AC/DC-and a little bit of R&B, and a slight Elton John thrown in there. They're using an array of instruments and effects and the lyrics tell a story that's something frowned upon in what this fucked-up reality of our world is. A man asking a woman if her husband knows how the sun reflects off of her wedding band?? This song is open for any and all interpretations. I've already got a couple of music video treatments lined up in my head..

By the way, I'M NOT BIASED.

I'm not going to say that everything that FOB does is golden. That's not true with ANY band. But I have yet to see a shitty album come from these guys. Really. I mean, with the exception of the general sound of Evening Out with Your Girlfriend (yay first albums!), they have yet to come to the table with an album of complete and total lyrical retardation, and musical stupidity.

I'm going to wait until I hear more than two songs to completely come to the verdict of "This album is shit. I'm not buying it." I will say though, that I'm hoping two songs from the "Welcome to the New Administration" mixtape make the cut. If you haven't yet, find someone to download that mixtape from, and check out "Lake Effect Kid" and "AlphaDog and Omegalomaniac". Those are two fan favorites from the mixtape. We're all crossing our fingers for those, boys. B-Sides, so be it.

These four guys have yet to do any wrong. They've all got so much going for them, both with musical tastes and talent. They're growing up, and so is their sound. Oh, sorry. They're evolving. Survival of the fittest. They know what decisions to make, and what ones could fuck up their career. At heart, I don't think they want to lose fans; moreover, I think they're ready to gain a more diverse melting-pot of a fanbase.

Signing off,

Nicole

What is this Fuckery?

Seriously, you guys.

What the hell? So, in case you guys give a shit about what I'm writing about, Pete Wentz, the ..front man.. bass player and back up vocalist for Fall Out Boy, posted a homemade video talking about how he was going to save the world. He listed benefits for Hurricane Katrina, Uganda, and lastly, making a baby. With Ashlee Simpson.
This, my friends, spawned endless, ANNOYING accusations that "zOMGz, SHEE'Z PREGGO! NO, PETE, WHY?!"

If indeed Ashlee Simpson is pregnant with Pete Wentz' baby, WHAT DOES IT MATTER!?

They're probably gonna get married, anyways. I don't think many people have seen Pete as happy as he is.

The fact that Pete impregnanted a Simpson is NOT going to change the course of the world. The Earth will still turn on it's axis, the sun will still set and the next president will still NOT be George Bush, Jr. [thank God.]

=]

In conclusion,
Pete, if the stupid rumors that you've started are true, more power to you. you'll probably be one of the best "celebrity" dads out there.
